The Windows setup has also not been 100% stable either. I ended up setting up a Windows VM with the Colossus pass-thru and Windows based SageTV install. I had stability problems with the HD-PVR (which had not been used in years). I originally setup the SageTV Docker with an HD-PVR because the Colossus does not have Linux drivers. I am mainly running Emby and Plex as the primary interface and just using SageTV for recording from a DirecTV receiver with a Hauppauge Colossus. Note: the i5 struggles to keep up with all the mp4 encoding I want to do so I have just purchased a used Xeon E3-1230V2 to replace it. Amazingly the entire Array and dockers moved without issue to the new server using the same unRAID USB flash drive. I moved the whole setup to my old server which is an i5-3470. I started with a Ryzen 1700 but found that it was somewhat unstable as an unRAID server. I have recently moved my main server to unRAID. And lastly I'm debating between getting a ryzen 1700x or waiting for a threadripper, do you think its worth going to the thread ripper for a machine that will be running at least 2-3 virtual machines plus dockers for sagetv/opendct/random other ones Now onto my question, are people putting their recording directories in the array? I'm assuming if they are putting their recordings in the array are multiple cache drives being used if Sagetv has a large amount of tuners available(I have 7). so after reading about virtual machine's and dockers in unraid now I'm considering combining my desktop/server into 1 machine. I have a bad habit of leaving my desktop on at all times. I'm now looking at another upgrade cycle due to aging drives(most of my drives are 5-7 years old), my server has a 4790k which I'm going to put in my son's computer. I switched to Ubuntu using snapraid which works and has been reliable. I've used Unraid in the past, but was grew tired of having to run multiple 24/7 machines (Sagetv/Mythtv, and Unraid).
